On Thursday, 3 August 2023, Ambassador Azhar Mazlan as the Chair of ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI) presided over the first ACI Heads of Mission meeting at the High Commission of Malaysia. The meeting was attended by Heads of Mission from Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Alongside them were officials from the ACI working group.
The purpose of the meeting was to comprehensively assess and plan the ACI's programme and initiatives from August to December 2023, evaluate the ACI’s Term of Reference (TOR) and collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Working Group.
In addition to the discussions on ASEAN-related affairs, the Heads of Mission engaged in productive deliberations regarding the preparations for the 56th ASEAN Day on 8 August 2023.
The gathering provided a platform for the ACI to strengthen their ties, share insights, and synchronize their efforts, ultimately contributing to the advancement of ASEAN and Pakistan diplomatic relationship.
