On 30 June 2025, a meeting was convened in Karachi between His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, and Mr. Bashir Jan Mohammad, Chairman of the Westbury Group. The meeting aimed to deepen bilateral economic cooperation between Malaysia and Pakistan, with a strong focus on trade expansion, investment opportunities, and infrastructure development.
The meeting also focused on strategic commodities, with Malaysia’s global leadership in Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production aligning with Pakistan’s growing demand in the food and industrial sectors. Both parties examined the possibility of establishing long-term supply arrangements to ensure price stability and continuous availability of CPO imports. Considerations included preferential tariff structures and collaborative quality assurance mechanisms.
The meeting further emphasized the role of joint ventures in key sectors such as agribusiness, food processing, infrastructure, and logistics. Both sides recognized the importance of government support through incentives, policy facilitation, and investment protection frameworks. This meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment of Malaysia and Pakistan to advance their economic relationship through policy coordination, technical cooperation, and robust private sector engagement. The outcomes of the meeting are expected to lay the groundwork for deeper, more diversified, and mutually beneficial economic ties between the two nations.
