On Monday, 13 January 2025, Ambassador Dato' Azhar Mazlan attended the handing-over ceremony of the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad (ACI). The Chairmanship of ACI was officially handed over from His Excellency Colonel (Retd) Pengiran Haji Kamal Bashah Bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam, to His Excellency Mr. Wunna Han, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, at the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam, Islamabad.
In his closing remarks, High Commissioner Colonel (Retd) Pengiran Haji Kamal thanked all members of the ACI for their cooperation in making his term successful. He also expressed his gratitude for the support extended to him in promoting public and economic diplomacy for all ASEAN members.
His Excellency Wunna Han, in his acceptance remarks, expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him to lead the ACI. He commended the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam for his exemplary leadership and the milestones achieved during his Chairmanship.
Ambassador Dato' Azhar Mazlan, on behalf of Malaysia, extended heartfelt felicitations to His Excellency Wunna Han on his new role as Chairman of ACI. He expressed confidence in Myanmar's leadership and assured Malaysia’s full support in advancing ASEAN's objectives in Islamabad. Ambassador Azhar also acknowledged the exceptional contributions of His Excellency Colonel (Retd) Pengiran Haji Kamal, noting his dedication and the remarkable progress made during his tenure.
