On 26 August 2025, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, participated as Chief Guest in the Business Opportunity Conference (BOC) and Excellence Awards organised by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The BOC served as a platform to bring together leading Malaysian and Pakistani business leaders, policymakers, and investors with the aim of promoting bilateral trade, investment, and industrial collaboration. Central to the programme was a B2B matchmaking session, enabling direct engagement between entrepreneurs from both countries to identify concrete business opportunities and partnerships across multiple sectors.

As part of its agenda, the ICCI delegation also visited PETRONAS, one of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, to explore avenues for cooperation in the petroleum and energy industry with Pakistan. This high-level engagement underscored the importance of energy as a strategic pillar of bilateral economic cooperation.

In his keynote remarks, Ambassador Dato’ Azhar emphasised the time-tested friendship between Malaysia and Pakistan, built on mutual respect and economic complementarity. He underlined Malaysia’s readiness to work closely with Pakistan in expanding cooperation not only in energy, but also in manufacturing, halal products, technology, and services.

The Business Opportunity Conference was attended by diplomats, senior government officials, corporate leaders, media representatives, and members of the ICCI delegation. The event reaffirmed the shared commitment of Malaysia and Pakistan to deepen trade and investment ties, while creating new opportunities for private sector collaboration.

The ICCI’s visit, coupled with high-level interactions and industry linkages, represents a major step forward in strengthening Malaysia–Pakistan economic engagement, with both sides expressing optimism for tangible progress in the months and years ahead.
