On Wednesday, 23 July 2025, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, H.E. Ambassador Dato' Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, visited the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). He was accompanied by Mr. Muhammad Zulasri Bin Rosdi, First Secretary of the High Commission. Upon arrival, the High Commissioner was received by Mr. Fazal Moqeem Khan, President of SCCI.
The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral trade and promote economic cooperation. The programme commenced with the recitation of the Quran, followed by the national anthems of Malaysia and Pakistan. The President introduced the High Commissioner to the Senior Vice President, Vice President, Secretary General, and other office bearers of the Chamber.
In his welcome remarks, Mr. Fazal Moqeem Khan called for simplified business visa procedures, enhanced trade delegations, and the organisation of a single-country exhibition to promote economic ties. He highlighted investment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) in sectors such as oil and gas, minerals, hydropower, tourism, honey, and pharmaceuticals, encouraging Malaysian investors to explore joint ventures. A multimedia presentation showcased the Chamber’s role and KPK’s economic potential.
In his address, Ambassador Dato' Azhar acknowledged the investment potential in KPK and emphasised the importance of mutual collaboration. He expressed Malaysia’s interest in engaging with the Pakistani business community to expand trade relations. He also invited KPK businesses to invest in Malaysia’s key sectors including oil, gas, and palm oil, noting the availability of special incentives for foreign investors. He highlighted Malaysia’s Halal ecosystem and reaffirmed the High Commission’s commitment to facilitating business visas and resolving procedural issues.
