On Wednesday, 20 November 2024, the Chief Minister of Perak, YAB Dato' Seri Saarani Mohamad, accompanied by a State Government delegation, arrived in Lahore, Pakistan, for a two-day working visit. The purpose of the visit was to explore the potential of the halal gelatin industry through one of the world's leading producers in the halal gelatin market, Leiner Pak Gelatine Ltd.
In the global gelatin industry, only 7 percent involves halal gelatin, and Leiner Pak Gelatine Ltd. is among the world's leading manufacturers in this niche.
During the visit, the Chief Minister toured the factory in Kala Shah Kaku and witnessed the halal gelatin production process, starting from raw materials to the final product. The factory has the capacity to produce 2,000 metric tons of halal gelatin annually, which is marketed worldwide.
Recognizing the significant global potential of this industry, the Chief Minister stated that the Perak State Government will take steps to position itself as a major player in this strategic sector. Additionally, efforts will be made to bring Leiner Pak's technology and expertise to the Perak Halal Industrial Park in Lekir, soonest.
