On 16 November 2025, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, High Commissioner of Malaysia attended the 9th Annual Convocation (Graduation Ceremony) of FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Chiniot-Faisalabad Campus. Overall, it was the 84th Convocation of the University. The University has six campuses which are located in Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Chiniot-Faisalabad, Multan and Karachi.
The ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Aftab Ahmad Maroof, Rector FAST National University, while Mian Muhammad Younas, Director, Sapphire Group was the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests included His Excellency Mr. Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh, Federal Minister for Investment and Member, Board of Governors, FAST, as well as envoys of Myanmar and Thailand.
Upon arrival, Ambassador Dato’ Azhar was warmly received by Professor Dr. Shehzad Sarfraz, Director, FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Chiniot-Faisalabad Campus. He briefed the foreign envoys about the academic and co-curricular initiatives of the institution. Thereafter, the Graduation Ceremony started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem of Pakistan. A total of 348 graduates received their degrees across the disciplines of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Business Administration. These included 323 Bachelor’s, 23 MS/MBA, and 2 PhD degree recipients. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals were awarded.
Ambassador Dato’ Azhar commended the vision and excellent facilities of the campus, the elegance of the ceremony, and extended his appreciation and congratulations to the Director, faculty members, and university staff for the successful organization of the event. The High Commissioner also planted a tree in the lawn of the university campus. Professor Dr. Aftab Ahmad Maroof, along with Dr. Shehzad Sarfraz presented a souvenir to Ambassador Dato’ Azhar.
