On 5 November 2025, His Excellency Ambassador Dato’ Mohammad Azhar Mazlan attended a working luncheon with Mr. Bashir Jan Mohammad, Chairman of Westbury Group, and Mr. Rashid Jan Mohammad, Chief Executive Officer, at Wisma Westbury, Karachi.
During the luncheon, Westbury Group briefed His Excellency on several significant developments, foremost among them the New Jetty Project currently under discussion with Malaysian partners. The project aims to establish a dedicated jetty facility to support the handling and logistics of palm oil and related commodities at Port Qasim. Westbury informed that the proposed shareholding structure under consideration would involve 35% Pakistani ownership and 65% Malaysian equity, reflecting strong confidence in Malaysian technical and commercial expertise. Discussions with Malaysian partners are ongoing, and the Group expressed optimism that the project will enhance logistics efficiency and strengthen the supply chain for Malaysian palm oil entering Pakistan.
Westbury Group further conveyed that, aside from palm oil, they are also one of the major exporters of Pakistani rice to Malaysia. They expressed their appreciation for Malaysia’s continued facilitation of trade and highlighted the strong and longstanding commercial ties between Westbury Group and Malaysian companies. They reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining high-quality supply channels and to expanding bilateral agri-commodity cooperation.
The engagement was constructive and underscored the strategic importance of the Westbury Group in Malaysia–Pakistan trade relations, particularly in the sectors of palm oil and rice. The luncheon provided an avenue for frank discussion on current opportunities and further collaborations with Malaysian industry partners.
