H.E. Dato Seri Dr. Ibrahim Saad, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of the Philippines and Her Excellency Datin Seri Dato’ Zainab Abdul Zader hosted a “Durian Party” for the Malaysian Community and Friends of Malaysia on Saturday, 28 April 2012, at “Rumah Malaysia”, the official residence of the Ambassador.
2. The event was attended by about 70 people including the Ambassador of Singapore Hirubalan V. P.; the Ambassador of Brunei Malai Hajah Halimah; members of the Malaysian community in the Philippines; officials and staff of the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila; and their families.
3. During the hot summer month of April, durians are in season in the Southern Philippines. Aware of the Malaysian love of durians, the Embassy of Malaysia with the assistance of the Malaysian Consulate General in Davao City, sourced durians from Davao and flew them in to Manila.
4. The guests spent the afternoon at “Rumah Malaysia” enjoying the durians and other Malaysian favourites such as pulut, mee goreng, nasi impit, serunding and kuih.
