On 22 April 2011, the Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E Datin Paduka Halimah Abdullah hosted a dinner for nine Malaysian students who are currently pursuing their first degree in Bucharest. Most of the students are studying General Medicines at the Faculty of Medicines and Pharmacy, University of Carol Davila, Bucharest.
During the gathering at the Official Residence, the Ambassador briefed the students on the latest developments that have taken place in Malaysia, as well as discussed matters concerning their studies and other pertinent issues, faced by them during their stay in Romania. The occasion is not only a testimony that the government is concerned with the welfare of Malaysians abroad but also an opportunity for the students to interact directly with the Ambassador. Besides, Malaysian students were served with varieties of Malaysian home-made food, an opportunity which was much appreciated by them.
Besides Bucharest, presently there are approximately 200 Malaysian students in Romania, mainly in the city of Iasi, about 400 km from Bucharest.
