Discovering ASEAN through Fabrics and Crafts

ASEAN embassies in Romania organise an exhibition at the National Village Museum, entitled "Discovering ASEAN through Fabrics and Crafts" in conjunction with the 42nd Anniversary of ASEAN.

 

 

In In celebration of the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Embassies from the member countries of ASEAN in Romania, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, and with the cooperation of the National Village Museum proudly organize an exhibition entitled “Discovering ASEAN through Fabrics and Crafts” from 6 to 23 of August 2009.

 

The exhibition was officiated on 6 August 2009 by the ASEAN Ambassadors and the Director General of Village Museum at the Gheorghe Focsa Hall. The wife of the President of Romania, Mrs Maria Basescu, had the honour to attend the opening ceremony. Also present were Senior Officials, members of Diplomatic Corp, local dignitaries and media.

 

The exhibition will provide opportunities for the visitors to encounter the colourful diversity of culture through fabrics and crafts from the region, which illustrate the immense richness of Southeast Asia’s cultural heritage. As part of the efforts to create greater awareness about ASEAN, an ASEAN corner was set in the exhibition hall, displaying posters, brochures and other informative materials on ASEAN.
