The group of Ambassadors from ASEAN countries in Bucharest, had a luncheon recently with Mr Doru Costea, Secretary of State for Strategic and Global Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affaires, Romania. The luncheon this time was hosted by Datin Paduka Halimah Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia.
The luncheon had undoubtedly provided an opportunity for the group to discuss and obtain the latest information from the Secretary of State on his views and perspectives on a number of important issues, both domestically and internationally as well. The Group of ASEAN Ambassadors here has a regular get-together among themselves and Romanian invitees are normally invited as guests of the group.
The Secretary of State, whose portfolio is also included countries of ASEAN, had last year visited Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand for bilateral consultations. The post of Secretary of State here is equivalent to the level of a Deputy Minister. As to the ASEAN member countries which have Embassies in Bucharest, they are Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
