With a view to strengthening further the relations between Asian countries and Romania, a luncheon with the newly appointed Foreign Minister was organised on 7 April 2009. The meeting was also timely since this is the first group meeting with the Foreign Minister after his appointment on 22 December last year. During the luncheon, the Foreign Minister and Asian Ambassadors had a free flow of discussion and exchange of views on various issues of mutual interest. Apart from Malaysia, also presence were the Heads of Mission from China, Indonesia, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, Philippines and Vietnam.
As the Dean of the Group of Asian Ambassadors, H.E. Datin Paduka Halimah Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Romania, had organised a luncheon with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, H.E. Cristian Diaconescu.
