Malaysia Celebrates 52nd Anniversary of its Independence in Romania

The auspicious occasion for Malaysia was celebrated with joy and pride in Romania and at the same time the colours of Malaysia enshrine in the cultural performance, representing different states and ethnic groups.

Malaysia's 52^nd National Day anniversary was celebrated more lively than before in Romania. Apart from welcoming the presence of local dignitaries, members of diplomatic corp, senior officials, prominent businessmen and media, the guests were also presented with the performance of 12 member of cultural troupe, specially brought from Belgrade, Serbia. It was interestingly unusual to see how a group of foreign citizens could perform Malaysian traditional dances from different states and ethnic backgrounds just like the natives.

The reception was preceded by the opening remarks by H.E. Datin Paduka Halimah Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Romania and H.E. Gheorghe Magheru, Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. H.E. Ambassador in her remarks highlighted that the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Romania have always been warm and cordial. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations over the last 41 years, both countries have been committed to further expanding and improving the relations at all levels and all sectors of society. Given the potentials that exist, H.E. Ambassador expressed her confidence that much more can certainly be done. Thus, it is the continuous effort of both countries to explore new areas of cooperation where this bond could be further consolidated and intensified.

Apart from the cultural performance, the guests were also served with various Malaysian cuisines and desserts. Despite being thousands of miles away, Malaysians living here also attended and celebrated the occasion with pride and joy.
