54th NATIONAL DAY RECEPTION IN THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN

The Embassy of Malaysia in Khartoum hosted a reception in the evening of 22 September 2011 at Rotana Al Salam Hotel in conjunction with our 54th National Day.  Guest of Honour for that evening representing President Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir and the Government of the Republic of The Sudan was His Excellency Haj Majid Suwar, Minister of Youths and Sports.
 
The event was well attended by about 150 guests comprising of foreign ambassadors in Khartoum, politicians from both pro-government and opposition parties, senior government officials, other members of diplomatic corps, businessmen and Malaysians based in Sudan including Petronas officials, students, military and police personnel serving under the UNAMID. MTCP alumnis were also invited to the reception.
 
Ambassador Mohd Ashri Muda delivered a short speech outlining the development in Malaysia including on the transformation programme launched by the Government. The Ambasador also touched on the status of bilateral relations with Sudan which remains close and friendly.
 
The Guest of Honour in his remarks conveyed the congratulory greetings from the President to the Government and the people of Malaysia on the anniversary of the National Day.  ”Negara-Ku” was then played after the speeches and it raised the patriotism spirit of all Malaysians present at the reception.
