The Embassy of Malaysia, Khartoum had successfully hosted a reception in the evening of 5 September 2013 in conjunction with the 56th National Day of Malaysia. The event was held at Rotana Al Salam Hotel, Khartoum. The representive of the President and the Government of the Republic of The Sudan and also the guest of honor for that evening’s event was The Honourable Hassan Abdul Gadir Hilal, Minister of Environment and Physical Development of the Republic of The Sudan. The event was well attended by foreign ambassadors and diplomats in Khartoum, senior government officials, local business people and Malaysians based in Sudan including Petronas officials, students and military personnel serving under the UNAMID.
The national anthem of Malaysia ”Negara-Ku” and the national anthem of the Republic of the Sudan were played at the beginning of the event followed by a short remark by The Ambassador of Malaysia, HE Ambassador Dato’ Mohd Ashri Muda. HE Ambassador in his remark, amongst others, touched on the status of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Sudan which being described as “warm and friendly” and also Malaysia’s support towards Sudan’s effort in achieving peace and stability in the country and in the region.

The guest of honour for the event, The Honourable Hassan Abdul Gadir Hilal, Minister of Environment and Physical Development replied with his remarks in Arabic by congratulating the people of Malaysia for the 56th Anniversary of Malaysia’s National Day. He mentioned about the support of Malaysia to Sudan escpecially in the oil industry. He complimented Malaysia particluarly Petronas who came into Sudan when no other oil company wanted to come before this. He hoped for a greater cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the important role that Malaysia can play in the economy of Sudan.
The Malaysians who present were looking proud and patriotism when the ”Negara-Ku” been played in the foreign country. The guests were treated with an array of authentic Malaysian delicacies such as Nasi lemak and Mee Goreng in addition to food from standard cocktail menu of the hotel. Everybody who attended the reception was very happy and enjoyed the Malaysian food.
