AMBASSADOR-DESIGNATE MOHAMAD RAZDAN JAMIL PRESENTS LETTER OF CREDENCE TO H.E. OMAR HASSAN AHMAD AL-BASHIR, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN, 22 OCTOBER 2018
On 22 October 2018, HE Mohamad Razdan Jamil, Ambassador-designate presented his Letters of Credence to HE Omar Hassan Ahmad Al-Bashir, President of the Republic of the Sudan. He was accompanied by his spouse Ms Lilis Surianty Mior Aziz; Mr Istaq Nadzril Abd Kader(Counsellor), Mr Shukri Ahmad (Counsellor) and Mr Muhammad Rafeeq Mohd Razali (Third Secretary) from the Embassy of Malaysia.
Upon his arrival at the Republican Palace, the Ambassador-designate was received by the Chief of State Protocol which was followed by the salute and inspection of the Guard of Honour. Afterwards, the Ambassador-designate was brought to the Grand Hall to address the President and subsequently presenting his Letters of Credence. Then the Ambassador proceeded to introduce his wife and accompanying officials to the President. Both the Ambassador and the President then proceeded to have a short discussion.
During the discussion, President Al-Bashir welcomed Ambassador Razdan to Sudan and with fondness spoke about his experience studying in Malaysia, the close relationship he has with YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed and his vision as well as aspirations to further enhance Sudan-Malaysia bilateral relations. He went on to acknowledge Petronas’ contribution in Sudan and looked forward to seeing a renewed endeavor by Petronas in the near future. In response, Ambassador Razdan thanked President Al-Bashir for his warm welcome and agreed that more can be done to improve bilateral ties. The close friendliness coupled with familiarity enjoyed by both countries surely is a great catalyst to improve bilateral trade and investment as well as explore other areas other than oil and gas such as in the field of agriculture with an emphasis on livestock and edible oils. Education is another area that can be explored for mutual benefit of both peoples.
The ceremony ended with Ambassador Razdan taking leave from the President. He was then accompanied by a protocol officer to sign the guest book after which Ambassador Razdan gave a short remark to the attending press corp at the Palace Media Centre. The Ambassador reiterated the need to improve bilateral relations and looked forward to venture into new fields of cooperation such as livestock and edible oils other than the oil and gas industry with Sudan. He also alluded that Sudan has huge potential and is a rich country with an abundance of natural resources and fertile soil.
In conjunction with the presentation of the Letters of Credence, Ambassador Razdan hosted a small reception for the Malaysian diaspora, made up of representatives, among others, from Petronas, the Malaysian businesses in Sudan and students as well as their respective families.
