On 28 April 2012 Ambassador of Malaysia, HE Dato’ Mohd Ashri Muda officiated the 18th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Students Association in Sudan (Persatuan Mahasiswa Malaysia Sudan – PMMS). The meeting was attended by all Malaysian students in Khartoum. In his speech, Ambassador Dato’ Ashri requested all students to continue carrying and promoting the good name of Malaysia in Sudan and to focus for completion of their studies so that they can contribute to the nation’s development upon their return to Malaysia.
Ambassador Dato’ Ashri also updated the students on current policies of the government including the Government Transformation Programme (GTP), the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) and the Talent Corps Programme.
For the record, there are currently 28 Malaysian students in Sudan. Majority of them are taking Islamic studies, Syariah and Arabic language. There is also one student doing Ph.D in Al Quran Studies in Omdurman University of Holy Quran.
