ASEAN STUDENTS’ DAY 2019

 

The Indonesian Student’s Association in Sudan (PPI Sudan) successfully hosted the ASEAN Student’s Day 2019 at Najah Saleh Sport Arena from 15 to 16 March 2019. Currently, the ASEAN Students’ Day is a biennial event for all ASEAN Students in Sudan. For this year’s event, there were futsal tournament, quran recital and memorizing the kitab, calligraphy contest, selling of ASEAN culinary delights, singing and dancing performances as well as presenting a movie.

 

The Malaysian Students Association in Sudan (PMMS) represented Malaysia’s team in participating in the futsal tournament. There were eight (8) teams which were divided into two (2) groups consisting Group A (Malaysia, Myanmar and Thailand) and Group B (Indonesia, Cambodia and PPI Sudan). Malaysia’s squad was led by Mr. Mohd Arzuham, team manager and Mr. Shukri Ahmad (Counsellor) as assistant team manager with Mr. Luqman Al Furqan as the captain.

 

The champions of the tournament was the team from Indonesia and the runner-up was the team from Thailand. H.E. Mohamad Razdan Jamil, Ambassador of Malaysia was invited to jointly give remarks at both the opening as well as the closing ceremonies whereas H.E Rossalis Rusman Adenan, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia opened and closed the ASEAN Students’ Day 2019.

 

One of the take-aways from this event is to build and strengthen the solidarity and brotherhood between ASEAN students in Sudan. With the friendly spirit reflecting the close ties and esprit de corps amongst the ASEAN community in Sudan, we look forward to the next instalment.
