PETRONAS WINTER FUTSAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT 2019
On 26 January 2019, the Petronas Sudan Office (PSO) successfully held its Annual Futsal Championship at Petronas Sudan Complex. There were eight (8) teams which participated in this year’s tournament. The teams were divided into two (2) groups which consisted of Group A (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan, Embassy of Malaysia in Sudan, Ministry of Petroleum and Minerals of Sudan and China National Petroleum Company) and Group B (Petronas, Petrolines for Crude Oil Ltd, Sudan National Petroleum Corporation and Bahrain Petroleum Company).
The Embassy’s squad was led by HE Ambassador Mohamad Razdan Jamil as team manager with Mr. Shukri Ahmad (Counsellor) as captain. Mr. Muhammad Rafeeq Mohd Razali (Third Secretary) and the Malaysian students in Sudan made up the rest of the squad.
The champions of the tournament was the team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan followed by the team from Petronas and in third place was the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral of Sudan. The tournament was also graced by H.E Eng Azhari Abdalgadir Abdalla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral of the Republic of the Sudan who gave an inspiring speech on his long relations with Petronas and Malaysia.
One of the take-aways from this tournament is the importance of strengthening the relations and at the same time making friends with all those who participated. With the friendly spirit reflecting the brotherly ties and esprit de corps amongst the community in Sudan, we look forward to the next instalment next year where the Embassy aims to be champion.
