On 27 August 2014, Future Studies Centre in Sudan, under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture Sudan, H.E. Ibrahim Mahmood Hamid, organized the Regional Forum for Rural Development Planning which was held at the Future Studies Centre Hall. The forum provides platform for selected countries namely Malaysia, Ethiopia, Oman, Norway and Indonesia to share each own countries’ experience in rural development planning as well giving the opportunities to Sudan Government and private agencies to gain information, exchange ideas and learn from those countries. There were about 100 participants attended the forum.
Speaker from Malaysia was YBhg. Dato’ Rahim Abu Bakar, Deputy Secretary-General (Planning), Ministry of Rural and Regional Development. Y.Bhg Dato’ Rahim shared about Malaysia’s policies, vision and challenges faced in rural development planning. Before the forum, YBhg Dato’ Rahim paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Agriculture Sudan, H.E. Ibrahim Mahmood Hamid. During the courtesy call, they discussed about the possibility of future cooperation between both countries in the field of rural development and agriculture.
2013 Regional Forum was about Strategic Planning. Mr. Ahmad Shazril Suhaimi, Charge d' Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia presented a paper on Malaysia's experience in strategic planning focusing on Vision 2020, Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).
