On Wednesday, 26 June 2024, the Embassy of Malaysia and the Serbia-Malaysia Friendship Club hosted the official Opening Ceremony of the Malaysian Corner at the Book and Travel Museum of the Society for Culture, Art and International Cooperation (ADLIGAT). The opening ceremony was also held in conjunction with celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the Serbia-Malaysia Friendship Club’s inception. On this occasion, the Embassy donated the Malaysian traditional wedding costumes made of songket and other items such as the kompang musical instrument, puppets for puppet theatre, the gasing and a Sepak Takraw ball to the Book and Travel Museum whose collection of Malaysian artifacts is the largest this region.
Following the officiation of the Malaysian Corner opening by Mr. Viktor Lazić, travel novelist and the President of the Serbia-Malaysia Friendship Club established under the ADLIGAT society and Mrs. Carmallia Budiaty Che Embi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia, the event featured the exhibition of Malaysian books and artefacts, Malaysian traditional live dance performances by the Embassy’s Cultural Troupe “Chenderawasih”, and the sampling of Malaysian culinary delicacies prepared by PERWAKILAN Belgrade. The guests at the event also had the opportunity to see the video on the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) showcased in conjunction with Serbia’s recent inclusion in this Malaysian Government’s international cooperation initiative.
The event ended on a high note with the live performance of a song in the Malay language by the Serbian singer-composer Mrs. Milica Milović and the admission of new members to the Serbia-Malaysia Friendship Club. The Embassy of Malaysia thanks the Serbia-Malaysia Friendship Club and the Book and Travel Museum under the ADLIGAT Society for another successful collaboration and wishes them all the best in their future endeavors!
