8 August 2017 - In conjunction with the ASEAN Day 2017 and to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the formation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, a Flag Raising Ceremony was held on 8th August 2017 at the Embassy of Malaysia in Belgrade. The event was co-hosted by the ASEAN Diplomatic Missions based in Belgrade, namely the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
The event was graced with the presence of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the Heads of Missions and representatives from the Asia Pacific embassies, United Nations Agencies and International Organizations based in Belgrade.
Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Malaysia in Belgrade, Mr Nik Ady Arman gave a Welcoming Remarks, thanking the ASEAN Diplomatic Missions in Serbia for making the event a success and expressed the honor for the Malaysian Embassy to host the ASEAN Day 2017 and the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the organisation.
In his speech on behalf of the Heads of ASEAN Diplomatic Missions in Serbia, Ambassador of Indonesia His Excellency Harry Richard James Kandou highlighted ASEAN’s achievements and outlined its excellent relations with its dialogue partners including the European Union and members of the United Nations. Ambassador Kandou also spoke about further opportunities for cooperation between ASEAN and Serbia.
ASEAN was established on 8th August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the ASEAN founding members, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam joined ASEAN on 7 January 1984, followed by Vietnam on 28 July 1995, Lao PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999, making up what is today the ten Member States of ASEAN.

8. avgust 2017. godine - U cast Dana ASEAN-a 2017 i obelezavanja 50. godisnjice osnivanja Saveza drzava Jugoistocne Azije, u Ambasadi Malezije u Beogradu je odrzana ceremonija svecanog podizanja zastave 8. avgusta 2017. godine. Domacini svecanosti su bile diplomatske misije drzava clanica ASEAN-a u Beogradu – Ambasada Republike Indonezije, Malezije i Republike Mjanmarske Unije.
Svecanost su svojim prisustvom uvelicali zvanicnici iz Ministarstva spoljnih poslova Republike Srbije, sefovi diplomatskih misija i predstavnici ambasada drzava azijsko-pacifi?ke regije, agencija Ujedinjenih nacija, kao i kancelarija medjunarodnih organizacija u Beogradu.
U svom govoru, odrzanom u ime diplomatskih misija zemalja clanica ASEAN-a u Srbiji, Njegova ekselencija g. Hari Ricard Džejms Kandu, ambasador Indonezije je istakao dosadasnje rezultate ASEAN-a, kao i odlicne odnose ove organzacije sa zemljama dijalog partnerima, uklju?ujuci Evropsku uniju i zemlje clanice UN-a. Ambasador Kandu je takodje govorio o mogucnostima za buducu saradnju izmedju ASEAN-a i Srbije.
ASEAN je osnovan 8. avgusta 1967. godine u Bangkoku, Tajland, potpisivanjem Bankoske deklaracije od strane drzava osnivaca – Indonezije, Malezije, Filipina, Singapura i Tajlanda. Sultanat Bruneji je pristupio ASEAN-u 7. januara 1984. godine, Vijetnam 28. jula 1995, NDR Laos i Mjanamar 23. jula 1997. godine, a Kambodza 30. aprila 1999. godine, formiraju?i sastav od 10 drzava clanica ASEAN-a kakav postoji i danas.
