13 May 2018 – The Malaysian Embassy took part in the International Cuisine and Culture Festival “Food Planet 2018”, a major public event held annually at the main city square of Novi Sad, the capital of the Serbian province of Vojvodina and one of Serbia’s largest cultural centres. The Festival will see the participation of 23 countries through the month of May.
Malaysia’s rich cuisine flavours were presented through a cooking demonstration by the Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy. The presentation of Mee Goreng Mamak (Mamak Fried Noodles) and Apam Balik (Malaysian-style pancakes) drew a large crowd, as they were versatile and easy to prepare. Another special attraction during the cooking demonstration was the demonstration of “Nescafe Tarik” (Pulled Nescafe), also a popular drink in Malaysia.
The visitors were then provided with a sampling of these Malaysian specialities prepared by PERWAKILAN Belgrade. Chenderawasih, the Embassy’s cultural troupe also performed a number of Malaysian dances including the popular dance “Joget Kelantan”.
The Embassy of Malaysia wishes to thank its partners and friends from the Color Press Group for the excellent organisation of the event, as well as to the local authorities and the people of Novi Sad.
