On 31 July 2024, the Embassy of Malaysia hosted the “Malaysia Madani Open House 2024” at the Radisson Collection Hotel, Belgrade. This event was organised under the “Malaysia MADANI” framework introduced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in 2023 aimed at fostering a more inclusive and prosperous society through good governance, sustainable economic growth, equal opportunities and prosperity, empowerment of marginalised communities and strengthening of national unity. The term "Madani", which means "civil" or "civilized", embodies the values of integrity, progress, and social harmony through care, compassion and mutual respect.
Held in celebration of the Open House tradition, which best reflects the vibrant hospitality, cultural diversity, and the spirit of collaboration and friendship that defines Malaysia, the “Malaysia Madani Open House 2024” was attended by more than 100 representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, members of Diplomatic Corps, representatives of religious and business communities, the media and members of the Serbia-Malaysia Friendship Club. Following the address by Chargé d’Affaires Mrs. Carmallia Budiaty Che Embi, which highlighted Malaysia’s economy and its cooperation potential, the guests were presented with the opportunity to see the video on the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).
Dedicated to showcasing Malaysia’s unique, rich, and diverse cultural heritage, the event’s programme also included live traditional dance performances by the Embassy’s Cultural Troupe “Chenderawasih”, the exhibition of Malaysian art paintings and savouring the taste of popular Malaysian delicacies such as beef rendang, satay, ketupat, bubur, and teh tarik (pulled tea) prepared by the Embassy’s staff.
