Malaysia participated in the 20th World Karate Championship held in Belgrade from October 27 to 31.
The Malaysian karate contingent was lead by Y.A.B Datuk Seri Hj. Mohd Ali b. Mohd Rustam, Chief Minister of Melaka.
The Malaysian contingent comprises of 8 athlethes competing in 10 different cathegories and achieved the following results
- Mr. Ramasamy Puwaneswaran - placed among top 8 in Male Kumite -60kg
- Ms. Lim Lee Lee - placed among top 16 in Female Kata
- Mr. Ku Jin Keat - placed among top 16 in Male Kata
- Ms. Gopalasamy Yamini - placed among top 16 in Female Kumite -55 kg
- Ms. Jamaludin Jamalliah - placed among top 16 in Female Kumite -68 kg
