20 October 2017 - Malaysian Night of Culture featured the re-enactment of the Malay wedding ceremony, Silat demonstration, display of Malaysian crafts and traditional Malaysian dance performances

 

 

Heads of Diplomatic Missions in Serbia and spouses together with other VIP guests attended the Malaysian Night of Culture.


The guests were presented with a variety of Malaysia’s delectable cuisine and had the opportunity to experience the uniqueness of Malaysia’s rich and vibrant cultural heritage through the display of its traditional handicrafts.


The highlight of the event was the re-enactment of the Malay wedding that included the demonstration of Silat (Malay martial art), Merenjis (blessing) ceremony where guests were given bunga telur and the performance of the traditional Malaysian dances such as Inang and Zapin by the Embassy’s cultural troupe, Chenderawasih. 


The event ended on a high note with the guests participating in a Joget Lambak, a Malay dance that is usually performed by a large crowd together in social events.
