On 8 August 2020, the Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv hosted the flag raising ceremony in conjunction with the 53rd ASEAN Day held in the grounds of the embassy. The event was attended by ambassadors together with their spouses, as well as home based staff from the Indonesian, Malaysian and Vietnamese embassies. The celebration began with the ASEAN flag raising accompanied by the ASEAN anthem. Following this, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine delivered a speech. After the speech, a pre-recorded special message by H.E. Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was played. In his message, H.E. Dmytro Kuleba underscored that enhancing relations with ASEAN will be one of his key priorities. He further stated that Ukraine has set an ambitious goal to achieve USD 5 billion in total trade with ASEAN by 2025. Later the guests were treated to a selection of ASEAN food and delicacies. The event was also attended by members of the media.
