On Saturday, 2 May 2015, H.E. Mr. Chuah Teong Ban, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine, joined H.E. Mr. Ard van der Steur, Minister of Security and Justice of the Netherlands, Dutch Ambassador and Australian Ambassador to pay their last respect to the remains of the victims of MH 17 disaster at the International Kharkiv Airport. The two Deputy Governours of Kharkiv region and senior officials were also present at the simple and sombre sending off salutation ceremony.
The repatriation of the last seven coffins marked the official completion of the international search and repatriation operation at the crash site. The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) participated actively in all the phases of the Recovery Mission under the leadership of the Netherlands, which was launched immediately after the downing of the MH 17 plane on 17 July 2014 in Donetsk region, Ukraine.
