28 September 2018 1 views

On 26 September 2018, the Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv held its annual gathering with the Friends of Malaysia which was attended by guests from different backgrounds namely businessmen, academicians, religious leaders as well as Malaysians residing in Kyiv. The High Tea was also held to commemorate the Malaysia Day which was celebrated on 16 September.

In his remarks, H.E. Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah, the newly minted Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine expressed pleasure in hosting the High Tea as it allows him to meet at the very early stage of his tenure with representatives from organisations who have been significant in enhancing bilateral relations between Malaysia and Ukraine. In addition, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Raja Reza reflected on the history of the formation of Malaysia and how the country has evolved to the “New Malaysia”, as a result of the unprecedented change of government on 9 May 2018. On that score, H.E. Ambassador Dato’ Raja Reza highlighted briefly the policies and directions of the new Malaysian government as well as its commitment to continue fostering friendly relations with all nations, including Ukraine.

Besides being an important avenue for the Embassy to continue its close engagement and extend its appreciation for the support rendered by the Friends of Malaysia, this year’s gathering was even more meaningful as the Embassy celebrates the dawn of a new Malaysia with our Friends.
