As part of the continuous effort to instill greater sense of ASEAN Community identity amongst the ASEAN Embassies in Kiev, the diplomatic staff of the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam observed the ASEAN Day 2016. In a ceremony held at the Embassy of Malaysia to mark the auspicious occasion of the establishment of ASEAN, the ASEAN anthem was played while the ASEAN flag was being hoisted.
In his brief remarks, H.E. Datuk Ayauf Bachi, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine highlighted the accomplishments of ASEAN since its establishment 49 years ago. ASEAN is now central in a regional architecture and has set a norm for peaceful co-existence in the region based on mutual interests. Looking ahead, ASEAN is gearing towards building a politically cohesive, economically integrated and people-centred ASEAN Community based on the respective Blueprints of ASEAN Community 2025.
Meanwhile, in keeping with the spirit of ASEAN fraternity, the ASEAN Family Gathering was held in Kiev on 16 September 2016. The staff and families of the ASEAN Embassies had come together for a fun evening out bowling.
