On a very hot summer day, 6 July 2019, H.E. Ambassador Raja Dato’ Reza and YBhg. Datin Roslina along with minister counsellor, Ms. Azra Firzadh Asangany had the opportunity to join the All-Ukrainian Festival of Traditional Culture “Kupalski Rosy” organized by GDIP (Directorate-General for Rendering Services to Diplomatic Missions) in Nemyryntsi village in the region of Zhytomyr, approximately 185 km away from Kyiv.
Also known as Ivana Kupala, the event is a celebration of ancient pagan origin marking the end of the summer solstice and the beginning of the harvest (midsummer). The Kupalski Rosy Festival was initiated by Mr. Pavlo Zhebrivskyi, a well-known Ukrainian politician and philanthropist and his wife Valentyna, has a long history as it marks its 16th anniversary this year.
On the way to the event, ambassadors and employees of foreign diplomatic missions from 17 countries visited Zhytomyr Butter Plant JSC - Rud Company, a leading ice cream manufacturer in Ukraine. The representatives of the diplomatic corps experienced the step by step process in ice cream production and were treated to various flavours of ice cream fresh from the assembly line.
