On 28 November 2019, the Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv met with the newly established People’s Deputy (Members of Parliament) Group of Ukraine for Inter- Parliamentary Relations with Malaysia.
The meeting served as an introduction of the newly appointed group to H.E. Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine. The group of seven members namely, Vadym Halaichuk, Tetiana Tsyba, Olena Moshenets, Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, Maksym Yefimov, Volodymyr Kozak and Olena Kopanchuk are mostly from the Servant of the People party, the dominant party of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament).
At the meeting, H.E. Ambassador provided a brief history of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Ukraine and updated the group on the current bilateral trade performance, the on-going business initiatives between Malaysia and Ukraine, Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP), Visit Malaysia Year 2020 and pending MoUs between Malaysia and Ukraine.
In anticipation that Malaysia would also form a similar group within the Malaysian Parliament in the near future, the group has indicated its readiness to cooperate with Malaysian Parliamentarians to address issues of concern to both countries including in the spheres of political, economy and people to people contact.
