Kyiv FETED 55th National day of malaysia

 

The Embassy of Malaysia in Ukraine successfully hosted the 55th National Day of Malaysia celebration on 10 October 2012 in a modest manner yet steep with Malaysian cultural atmosphere. The reception was special this year as we are also celebrating the 20th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Ukraine. About 250 guests from local dignitaries, members of parliament, senior officials, academics, business circles, tourist agencies and the mass media, besides the usual diplomatic communities, attended the reception.

Nat Day pic 2.jpegNat Day pic 3.jpegAfter the national anthems of Malaysia and Ukraine, H.E. Mr. ChuahTeong Ban, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine made brief welcoming remarks. In his remarks, he shared with the Ukrainian community on Malaysia’s success story in its nation building process towards becoming a developed nation by 2020. In particular, he attributed the success to the adoption of pragmatic economic policies and strategies by Malaysia in transforming its agricultural based economy at the time of independence to a manufacturing and industries based one that Malaysia is enjoying now. Future prospect and strategic plans to further transform the robust national economy were also mentioned. Status of bilateral relations between Malaysia and Ukraine were also highlighted.

Besides creating a warm Malaysian ambience at the reception with bungamanggar, traditional Malay music and an array of Malaysian cuisines, several portraits of the past and present SPB Yang di-PertuanAgong painted by a Ukrainian artist were also on displayed. This reception also provided an opportunity for Malaysian community in Kyiv to get-together.
