Malaysian Batik at Ukrainian Fashion Week
For the first time traditional Malaysian Batik fabric is making its debut appearance in the Ukrainian fashion world.
The Embassy of Malaysia in Ukraine and Tourism Malaysia have collaborated closely with Mrs. IrynaDanylevska, organizer of the Ukrainian Fashion Week to showcase a unique partnership on a project called “Malaysian Batik and Ukrainian Designers”.
With the creative inputs from three young and talented designers, namely Ms. Yana Chervinska, Ms. DariyaKryvokhyzha and Mr. Ivan Frolov,who were the top three winners of All Ukrainian Young Designers Contest 2013 “Look into the Future”, three finest quality traditional Malaysian Batik fabrics were given a complete facelift to transform into stylistic and fashionable modern dresses to cater for the Ukrainian fashion market. The dresses featured a harmonious blend of Malaysian identity with Ukrainian fashion style and taste.
As Malaysia is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Malaysia Day in 2013, the three designers have graciously devoted their masterpieces to mark this joyous occasion. Their creations were prominently displayed in the main gallery of the Ukrainian Fashion Week from 9-13 October 2013 in Kiev, Ukraine.
The Ambassador of Malaysia in Ukraine, H.E. Mr.ChuahTeong Ban officially launched the project and unveiled the collection on 10 October 2013 during the Ukrainian Fashion Week.
