H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah and spouse, YBhg. Datin Roslina Ismail hosted the 62nd National Day of Malaysia reception on 30 September 2019 at the Fairmont Grand Hotel, Kyiv. Among the 250 invited guests were diplomatic corps in Kyiv, Ukrainian government officials, businessmen, academicians, religious leaders, media, as well as Malaysians residing in Kyiv.
The reception began with the “Negaraku” followed by Ukrainian national anthem. In his speech, H.E. Raja Dato' Reza Raja Zaib Shah reflected on Malaysia’s achievements and foreign policy. The Ambassador also gave some highlights of the bilateral diplomatic and trade relations between Malaysia and Ukraine. The Ambassador stated that both countries would positively continue discussions to reinforce bilateral cooperation in various areas including trade and investment, tourism, education, defence, aerospace, aviation and tap into new opportunities for further collaboration in other potential areas. In addition, H.E. Raja Dato' Reza Raja Zaib Shah also expressed his hopes to see more collaboration between the private sector of Malaysia and Ukraine in the future and promoted the Visit Malaysia Year 2020.
The Guest of Honour, H.E. Mr. Andriy Zayats, the State Secretary for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, in his speech congratulated Malaysia on its remarkable success in building a modern state due to the combination of three great cultures, religions and nationalities, which significantly contributed to civilizational achievements of the country, its political, economic and cultural development. He also believes that political, trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Malaysia could be further developed and expanded.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous buffet and some Malaysian traditional delicacies, while Malaysian traditional music was played during the reception. Tourism Malaysia had generously donated Malaysian arts and crafts and holiday package for three lucky draw’s winners that night. All in all, it was a joyous, memorable and colourful evening in which the Malaysian Embassy staff donned Malaysian traditional costumes among others the baju kurung, kain songket, kebaya nyonya and batik sarung.
