On 20 April 2021, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine met with Sheikh Ahmed Tamim, Mufti of Ukraine at Al Rahma mosque, Kyiv. Both of them exchanged views on a wide range of issues affecting the Muslim ummah in Ukraine. The Mufti briefed the Ambassador on the future development plans including constructing a Islamic University adjacent to the Al Rahma mosque, as well as building a school and a kindergarten. He further explained that new mosques are being built in other cities in Ukraine including in Odesa, Kremanchuk and Kherson. The holy month of Ramadan is not only for Muslims to fast and pray but they are also encouraged to do charity. It is a month to do good deeds, devotion, compassion, generosity, forgiveness and repentance. The Malaysian Ambassador later handed over to the Mufti cash donations of UAH 17,000.00 for the Al Rahma mosque to carry out their activities during the Ramadan month.
