MEETING WITH THE MEJLIS OF CRIMEAN TATAR PEOPLE

On 21 April 2021, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine met with Mr. Mustafa Jemilev, Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Affairs of Crimean Tatar and Members of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People at the latter’s office. During the meeting, Mr. Refat Chubarov, Chairman of the Mejlis briefed the Ambassador on the current activities of the Mejlis, the latest situation concerning Crimean Tatars and the Strategy for de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea. The Ambassador among others informed that the International Islamic University Malaysia is prepared to sponsor three Crimean Tatar students to study at the university. The Ambassador also extended an invitation to the Mejlis to visit Malaysia to meet with the Malaysian leaders to raise awareness on the plight of Crimean Tatars. The Mejlis welcomed both the offer and the invitation and expressed their appreciation to the Ambassador. The other Members of the Mejlis who were present are Mr. Eskender Bariiev, Dr. Gayana Yuksel and Mr. Riza Shevkiev.
