The “Jalur Gemilang” hosting ceremony was held at the compound of the Embassy of Malaysia in Kiev in conjunction with the National Day of Malaysia. Standing under the clear morning skies and sunny day, the staff of the Embassy sang along to the national anthem “Negaraku” with full pride and nostalgia.
After the flag hoisting ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Chuah Teong Ban in his remark said that National Day is a time to reflect and recognise how far Malaysia has achieved in its long journey of self-administration to preserve the core values of peace and unity as well as developing a vibrant open economy for the prosperity of future generations. H.E. Ambassador Chuah Teong Ban drew on the similarity of the values enjoyed by Malaysia and Ukraine for common national identity through the adoption of patriotism and peace.
The first Prime Minister of Malaysia Tunku Abdul Rahman once said, “We are all Malaysians. This is the bond that unites us. Let us remember that unity is our fundamental strength as people and as nation”. Malaysia’s strength indeed lies in its unity in diversity.
