OVERWHELMING SUPPORT FROM UKRAINIAN WELL-WISHERS ON MH17 TRAGEDY
Hours after the announcement of the tragic incident of the MH17 plane in eastern Ukraine on 17 July 2014, Ukrainian public started to turn up at the Embassy of Malaysia to place flowers, candles and soft toys to mark the passing of the 298 passengers onboard. Throughout the night and the days that follow, more and more Ukrainians thronged the Embassy to pay their respect making the little yard in front of the Embassy look like a small memorial for the victims. Many of them kept night vigils and offered personal prayers, sometimes even going past mid-night.
Such warm and caring support from the Ukrainian public has given the staff of the Embassy of Malaysia the strength and encouragement in facing this sadness and difficult times with fortitude and courage.
The Embassy of Malaysia takes this opportunity to thank all well-wishers from Ukraine for your kind gestures and warm consoling words.
