On 21 September 2018, the Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine, His Excellency Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah, presented his Letter of Credence to the President of Ukraine, His Excellency Petro Poroshenko. His Excellency Dato’ Raja Reza is the fifth Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine.
After presenting his Letter to President Poroshenko, Dato’ Raja Reza had the privilege to sit down for a tête-à-tête and listened to President Poroshenko recalling fond memories of his first official visit to Malaysia in 2016. President Poroshenko spoke of how significant the relations between Ukraine and Malaysia. President Poroshenko further underscored that Ukraine views Malaysia as an important and reliable partner.
Dato’ Raja Reza, in turn, expressed that it is his honour to have the duty, over the next few years, to strengthen bilateral ties and explore ways of furthering cooperation as well as people-to-people links between Malaysia and Ukraine.
Dato’ Raja Reza joined the Malaysian administrative and diplomatic service in 1996.He was the Undersecretary of the West Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia since January 2017 prior to his appointment as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine.
Dato’ Raja Reza had also served as the Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission ofMalaysia to the United Nations (UN) in New York; Counsellor, at the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, Indonesia; and Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission ofMalaysia to the UN in Geneva.
Diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Ukraine was formally established on 3 March 1992 and since then both countries have enjoyed warm and friendly relations.
