REPATRIATION OF MALAYSIANS STRANDED IN UKRAINE

Following the reopening of Ukraine’s international borders and resumption of international flights by the Ukrainian authorities on 15 June 2020, the Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv, on 16 June 2020 facilitated the repatriation of four Malaysian citizens back to Malaysia. They were unable to return home due to the lockdown and quarantine measures implemented by the Ukrainian government since 17 March 2020. Present at Boryspil Airport, Kyiv to assist the Malaysians was H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine. The Malaysians departed from Boryspil Airport via Lufthansa flight LH1495 to Frankfurt on 16 June 2020. After transiting for 19 hours in Frankfurt, they left for Doha via Qatar Airways flight QR068, continued their journey to Malaysia after a brief transit in Doha and arrived in Kuala Lumpur on 18 June 2020.
