On 5 April 2018, the Embassy of Malaysia made a presentation to promote Malaysia as a high quality education destination for students from Ukraine. The Embassy’s presentation highlighted five key reasons why Malaysia is the preferred higher education institution for international students – quality education whereby the study programmes offered are internationally recognised; affordable tuition fees; reasonable cost of living; and safe and stable environment.
The public event was organised by MUDRA – a Ukrainian educational company – and held at Krok University, Kyiv. It received encouraging response and the audience was mostly made up of Ukrainian high school students, about 50 of them, who were eager to explore their options of studying abroad for their tertiary education. Representatives from the Asia Pacific University also made a presentation on the Malaysian award-winning university.
Ukrainian students often look to pursue their tertiary education within the traditional destinations in Europe, the United States and Canada. However, with various factors around the world today, including a challenging global economy and changes in geopolitical trends in the United States and Europe, this is an opportune time for Malaysia to further promote and capitalise on its strengths in higher education to attract more students from Ukraine.
