On 11 December 2018, H.E. Dato’ Raja Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine visited Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and met with Professor Valerii Kopiika, Director of the university’s Institute of International Relations (IIR).
Both sides discussed on ways of deepening cooperation between Malaysia’s higher education institutions and Taras Shevchenko National University, namely in the areas of joint research, exchange of students and academicians.
Professor Kopiika noted that Ukraine generally is keen to forge greater links with Asia and Professor Kopiika himself is interested to learn from Malaysia’s experience as one of the most influential countries in the Asian region. To this end, Professor Kopiika extended invitation to H.E. Ambassador to give a lecture to the IIR students in spring next year. He also shared his plans to invite several representatives from Malaysian universities to visit Ukraine in 2019 with the view to promoting education opportunities in Malaysia among Ukrainian youth.
