The Embassy of Malaysia in Ukraine hosted the visit of a group of 30 students, representing the various Ukrainian Higher Learning Institutions on Friday, 20 September, 2013, as part of the Embassy’s outreach programme with the host country,
The students, who are currently majoring in International Relations and International Law disciplines, were on their familiarization tours’ programme to foreign diplomatic missions, under the patronage of the Youth Diplomatic Initiative of Ukraine. They were led by the leader, Mr. Pavlo Cherkasyhn, with the aim of providing the members with the relevant exposure and understanding of foreign diplomatic missions’ representation, such as the Embassy of Malaysia in Kiev.
Minister Counsellor, Mr. Mohd Aznor Mahat in the briefing session, presented the visitors with an overview of Malaysia, the roles and functions of Wisma Putra and the Malaysia’s Foreign Policy. The event was graced with the presence of H.E. Ambassador Chuah Teong Ban during the Questions and Answers session, who responded the guests with a wide range of questions on Malaysia’s stand on the regional, multilateral and global geo-political situations,including its’ relations with Ukraine, ASEAN, China and the USA .
The visit by the students has enabled the Embassy to engage and enhance stronger people-to-people relations, closer socio-cultural understanding and wider cooperation between Malaysia and Ukraine. The group was also presented with promotional materials on Malaysia mainly on tourism, a book on Malaysia and other giveaway items.
