The Minister of Tourism of Malaysia, the Honourable Dato' Sri Dr. Ng Yen Yen made a 3-day working visit to Kiev from Tuesday, 6 October until Thursday, 8 October 2009.

The highlight of the visit was meeting between the Minister and top tour operators based in Ukraine to promote Malaysia's tourism. During the meeting, the Minister and her officials from Tourism Malaysia provided updates on latest tourism products. They were also informed about the incentives the Tourism Malaysia have for them. At the end of the meeting, the Minister was interviewed by journalists from the local media. The meeting was considered a success especially in making new contacts and improving relations with tour operators who have been taking Ukrainian tourists to Malaysia.

The Minister hosted dinner for the tour operators at the newest and the best hotel in Kiev. Apart from the dinner, the Minister and guests were entertained by local musicians and a popular Ukrainian singer. The Minister also spent some of her precious time introducing the guests "1Malaysia" dance, multicultural dances which is popular in Malaysia. Most of the members of the delegation took part in the dance and some Ukranian guests were invited to try their skills in that enjoyable dance.

Apart from the official programmes, the Minister and her delegation spent some time studying tourism products in Kiev. Among the visited places were historical monasteries, Chernobil Museum, National Art Museum of Ukraine, open market for Ukranian paintings and souvenirs and Ukraine's traditional village museum. On the second day of the visit, a dinner was hosted by H.E Dato' Ambassador at his Official Residence in honour of the Minister and her delegation.
