On 4 December 2019, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine made an official visit to Antonov, Ukraine’s leading aircraft manufacturing and services company. H.E. Ambassador was received upon arrival by Mr. Oleksandr Donets, President of Antonov who later gave a short briefing about the company. Following the briefing, H.E. Antonov is well-known for building the world’s largest aircraft, the Antonov AN-225 Mriya cargo plane. The six-engined plane holds both the records as the heaviest plane ever built and the largest wingspan of an aircraft currently in service.
A delegation from Antonov visited Malaysia in August this year and subsequently the company received an offer from the Kedah state government to provide aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services at the Kulim International Airport. During the visit a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Antonov and the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA).
