WORKING VISIT OF MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR TO CHERNIHIV REGION

On 3 September 2020, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia undertook a one day visit to Chernihiv oblast (region) at the invitation of Mr. Andrii Prokopenko, Governor of Chernihiv region. At the Chernihiv Regional State Administration, the ambassador was briefed by the Governor on the overall administration and economic activities of the region. Following the meeting with Mr. Prokopenko, the ambassador then met with Mr. Vladyslav Atroshenko, Mayor of the Chernihiv city.

Later in the afternoon, the ambassador had meetings with the Chairman/CEO of five companies based in the Chernihiv region : Vimal PPCE (largest potato starch producer in Eastern Europe), PET Technologies (blow molding machine manufacturer), Novgorod Siverskyi Cheese PRIVJSC (cheese producer), PPTE JNL (manufacturer and exporter of grains) and Himipex Oil Ltd (manufacturer of corrosion inhibitors for oil and gas industry). The ambassador also took the opportunity to invite companies in the Chernihiv region to take part in the first and biggest Malaysia-Ukraine online business conference to be organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and MATRADE this month.

The total area of Chernihiv region is approximately 31,900 square kilometers. Chernihiv city is situated about 150 kilometers north of Kyiv. It is the only region in Ukraine that has borders with both Belarus and Russia. The region has a population of 1.1 million people. Almost 45 % of the processing industry in the region is in the areas of food, beverage and tobacco products. Chernihiv provides 5.8% of Ukraine’s grains, 6.4 % potatoes and 5.1% dairy products. Throughout the visit, the ambassador was accompanied by Mr Nazar Solomakha who is part of the Young European Ambassadors (YEAs) initiative.
