On 18 July 2020, H.E. Raja Dato’ Reza Raja Zaib Shah, Ambassador of Malaysia to Ukraine undertook a working visit to the city of Uman in the Cherkasy Oblast (region). Uman is located approximately 200 kilometers south of Kyiv. The ambassador met with Mr. Oleksandr Tsebriy, Mayor of Uman and other senior officials at the Uman City Council. The mayor among others gave an overview about the city’s historical background, infrastructure development and key economic activities of the city including in the areas of agriculture and tourism.
Next, the ambassador visited Uman Greenhouse Complex (UGC). The greenhouse complex established in 1974 operates the most up-to-date greenhouse of European type, using the latest innovations and technologies in growing vegetables. The company specialises in growing high quality tomatoes and cucumbers. Its hyper-modern complex spans over 30 hectares. With Global GAP (Good Agricultural Practices) international certification standard, products from UGS have the possibility to enter international market. The Malaysian Ambassador and Mr. Mykola Gordiy Vasilyevich, founder and director of UGC discussed and explored the possibility of developing cooperation between UGC and Malaysia.
