COVID-19 ADVISORY

FOR PRIVATE/SELF-SPONSORED MALAYSIAN STUDENTS

IN THE UNITED STATES

As the situation relating to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to deteriorate, the priority of the Consulate General of Malaysia in Los Angeles remains the health, safety, and well-being of Malaysian citizens in the United States, including students.

The Consulate General, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Washington D.C., Student Affairs sub-committee of the Embassy Emergency Response Team, and in cooperation with the National Assembly of Malaysian Students in America (NAMSA), continues to closely monitor the situation and well-being of Malaysian students in the United States, as well as updates obtained from their respective sponsors and universities.

However, out of over 6,500 Malaysian students in the United States (source from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security), more than 80% percent have yet to register with the Embassy or Consulates General of Malaysia in the United States, particularly private/self-sponsored students.  Given the current crisis situation, it is crucial for all Malaysian students to register their contact details with the Embassy or Consulates General of Malaysia so that the Embassy or Consulates General of Malaysia are able to directly convey important and urgent information/updates.  The registration could be done at the following link:-

Thank you.

Stay safe and stay informed!
